Want to make your parasol more secure?

... advice on how to prevent a grab and run

Posting date: 13th April 2007 16:25

Restaurants and hotels who have their parasols up on their patio all day every day throughout the Summer sometimes ask how they can make sure someone doesn't just come and steal them during the night.

All the Tradewind ranges have a neat solution. Provided you buy the concrete patio umbrella base, then a special lockable bolt can be bought very cheaply. You will be supplied witht the allan key you need to undo the lock. Make sure you do not lose it!

Otherwise you can do a DIY job to make the parasol more secure yourself by replacment the fixing pin that fixes the parasol to the base, with a screw and bolt. Alternatively you can put a padlock on. You need to be careful that you do not damage the pole however.
