How do you measure a Parasol diameter? Is it from end of strut to end of strut?

On square parasols, the parasol size is stated using the length of the side of the parasol.
On "round" parasols (these will be hexagonal or octagonal in practice), the parasols are sized according to the diameter from end of strut to end of strut (or "point to point"). If you measure mid way between each strut (ie "flat to flat"), then the diameter is a few centimeters shorter.
