I am trying to fold my Paraflex parasol and it seems that I have to take it off the clasp to do so. Is this right?

No, there is (usually) no need to take the Paraflex parasol canopy off the arm in order to close it. There is just a knack which a lot of people do not see straight away. Basically, you have to clasp the paraflex canopy pole ABOVE the hub with the arm, when you want to close it. So if you have the pole clasped below the hub, then you will need to take the canopy off. But once clasped in the correct position above the hub, then you need to unzip the canopy at the back, over the arm, fold the canopy and the whole thing can be pushed back against the wall.
