Thoughts on patio and poolside living. A blog by Claire - The Patio Umbrella
Can you give me more details on the Paraflex Wall Mounted Parasol?

Thankyou for your enquiry below. I will break down your questions into a list and give my answer in capitals:
1. Model required: 2.7m Hexagonal parasol with 2.35m long arm with 2 hinged parts, in natural. Do you have this model in stock? YES - IN CLASSIC AND PREMIUM, NOT IN SUNBRELLA
2. If so would delivery be typically within a week? ? NORMALLY 3-4 DAYS If not, what would be the delivery period? ? AT THE MOMENT THE WAREHOUSE IS EXTREMLEY BUSY SO THE DELIVERY MAY TAKE A WEEK. THE SUNBRELLA WOULD TAKE APPROX 2 WEEKS TO COME IN.
3. Choosing between the Classic, Premium and Sunbrella models appears to be entirely a matter of cost and the quality of the parasol fabric (canvas): YES
4. Given intended use (within conservatory, wind and rain resistance irrelevant), are the differences between the 3 types of canvas relevant? FAR LESS RELEVANT EXCEPT FOR THE FADING ISSUE. IF YOU ARE GOING FOR A NATURAL COLOUR, FADE IS FAR LESS RELEVANT FOR YOU, BUT WOULD REMAIN RELEVANT IN A CONSERVATORY FOR THE DARKER COLOURS. THE SUNBRELLA IS THE BEST FOR FADE RESISTANCE. REGARDING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CLASSIC AND THE PREMIUM, YOU ARE RIGHT THAT THE BETTER LONGEVITY OF THE PREMIUM IS FAR LESS RELEVANT IN YOUR SITUATION. THE DIFFERENCE THAT MAY REMAIN RELEVANT TO YOU IS THE LOOK AND FEEL OF THE FABRIC. THE CLASSIC IS A SHINIER (POLYESTER), AND THE PREMIUM IS A MATT ACRYLIC.
5. Are there differences in the sun screening effectiveness of the 3 types of canvas (apart from UV aspects)? I AM NOT SURE WHAT OTHER TYPE OF SCREENING YOU ARE THINKING OF? HOWEVER, DARK COLOURS WILL ABSORB THE HEAT AND THEREFORE IT WILL BE HOTTER UNDERNEATH, BUT THE SHADE GIVEN WILL BE DARKER. WITH THE NATURAL COLOUR, THE CANOPY WILL REFLECT THE HEAT SO IT IS COOLER UNDERNEATH BUT THE SHADE IS LIGHTER. SO IT DEPENDS WHICH OF THESE ISSUES ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU.
6. Do all 3 models have a vented canopy? ?YES IN THE 2.7M, NOT IN THE 1.9M AND 2.2M
7. Have seen an actual Paraflex on display in John Lewis and am happy with the quality of the product. The wall mounted arrangement also provides the necessary shading flexibility to cope with the sun?s trajectory over our conservatory. Given the intended use, can you suggest alternative products I should consider? NO, THE PARAFLEX IS THE ONLY WALL MOUNTED PARASOL THAT WE DO. IN MY EXPERIENCE IT IS A VERY WELL DESIGNED AND FLEXIBLE PRODUCT AND WE SELL A GREAT MANY OF THEM EACH SUMMER
8. The parasol material of the model displayed in John Lewis is described as Natural and suits us. What is the equivalent description of this shade in Classic, Premium and Sunbrella? THE CLASSIC ONLY COMES IN THE NATURAL OR ECRU

THE PREMIUM NATURAL IS CALLED EITHER NATURAL OR ECRU ON OUR SITE:

THE SUNBRELLA NATURAL IS CALLED CANVAS

IAM NOT SURE WHICH OF THE ABOVE FABRICS JOHN LEWIS SELLS. THE NATURAL COLOUR IN EACH FABRIC IS VERY SIMILAR BUT NOT IDENTICAL - FABRIC TYPE AND DENSITY CHANGES THE PERCEIVED COLOUR.
