There are 2 ways of bolting down a Tradewinds parasol to a stone patio or deck. You can either:

• buy a square metal base, which has holes in the corners and bolt down using the holes; or
• use a Tradewinds base plate, which is a much smaller triangular base and much cheaper

I would recommend the latter where possible, as it is a neater, cheaper option and just as strong. The Tradewinds base plate is basically, the triangular section that is normally bolted to a concrete mobile base - you can see images of this by clicking next photo until you get to image 7 at the following url:

You just bolt the base plate to the decking or stone patio.

One thing you do need to make sure of is that your decking or patio is sufficient strong to withstand the wind force that may be applied to the parasol when in use. It has been known for weakly nailed decking planks to be pulled up with the parasol. Any parasol needs to be managed in wind and closed when the wind is getting too much for it. If your patio or deck is weak, then you are going to need to close the parasol at much lower wind speeds thus reducing the time during which the Tradewinds is in use.
